DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse.
