DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehab due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
