DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
