DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug treatment programs are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
