Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any type of drug and alcohol rehabilitation program on account of a drug or alcohol related offense. This will occur for example when someone is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, or any other type of drug related criminal offense which has led the judge to think that the individual has any type of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol treatment program as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered by the judge it's strongly advised that the individual try everything they are able to to make the most of this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences may be totally eliminated or lessened in the event the individual does well in rehabilitation and completes the drug rehab center that is ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who take part in rehabilitation in lieu of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves a legal court system both money and time when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehabilitation.
