DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
