DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse if they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
