Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any type of alcohol and drug treatment facility due to a drug or alcohol related offense. This can occur for example if someone else is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, and for any other kind of drug related offense which has led the court to believe that the individual has any sort of substance abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol treatment program as a criminal justice client, however, if this approach is ordered through the judge it is wise that the individual try everything they can to benefit from this chance. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences can be completely eliminated or lessened when the individual succeeds in rehab and completes the drug rehab program which has been ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients who experience treatment in lieu of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. In the end, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain powerful rehab.
