Native American and Alaska Native people are apt to have considerably higher rates of alcohol and drug abuse then other racial backgrounds. Native Americans and Alaska Natives may receive rehabilitation within a traditional drug treatment program if rehabilitation is provided in their language, or take advantage of program which was designed exclusively to take care of these clients in their language exclusively. Drug treatment facilities which offer treatment in Native American or Alaska Native Languages offer either a standard approach including rehabilitation plans based using the 12-step method, or there are drug rehabilitation programs with rehab plans using their language which offer a more holistic and alternative approach. Because so many aspects of the Native American and Alaska Native cultures focus on holistic healing and so on, these clients can greatly reap the benefits of an alternative alcohol and drug rehabilitation program which includes these components of their culture in to an extensive rehabilitation plan in their language. Native Americans and Alaska Natives who need treatment and can take advantage of a treatment setting conducive to their customary healing practices can even take part in rehab services at a number of centers and alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities which work to provide a tranquil environment.
