Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of drug and alcohol rehabilitation program due to a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This will occur for example if a person is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other kind of drug related criminal offense which has led the court to believe that the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug rehabilitation facility as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered from the court it is well advised that the individual do everything they can to take full advantage of this chance. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences might be completely eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in rehabilitation and completes the drug rehabilitation center that has been ordered for them. First time offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients that experience treatment instead of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain powerful treatment.
