Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of drug and alcohol treatment center due to alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will occur for instance if someone is convicted of a DUI or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related criminal offense which has led a legal court to believe that the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered through the court it's strongly advised that the individual try everything they are able to to make the most of this chance. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences may be totally eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in rehabilitation and finishes the alcohol and drug rehab program which was ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients who take part in treatment in lieu of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to incarceration or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain powerful rehabilitation.
