DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future.
