DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use.
