DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol treatment programs are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to rehab either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
