DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehab programs are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could possibly be required to go to rehab either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
