DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehabilitation programs are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
