Outpatient treatment gives treatment clients the ability to sustain certain responsibilities and elements of their way of life while taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation services. Outpatient treatment is a moderate level of rehabilitation, and shouldn't be mistaken for the level of rehab offered in an inpatient or residential treatment program that's much more intensive. Outpatient treatment could be ideal for someone who has a brief history of drug or alcohol use for instance, but will most definitely not be sufficient for an individual whose rehab needs go beyond that which outpatient treatment is able to provide. Individuals involved in drug and alcohol use often require a considerable change of environment, because most of the things that prompt their drug and alcohol use are purely environmental. For instance, when someone has been physically or emotionally mistreated and this is prompting their substance abuse, it's impossible for any rehabilitation efforts to succeed if they go back to such circumstances every day. In outpatient treatment, clients can engage in group and individual therapy, in addition to family counseling services. In outpatient treatment, most centers offer services 6 or 7 days a week on either a part time or full-time basis for 1 month or longer in some cases.
