DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
