DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug rehab programs are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be ordered to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while under the influence later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
