DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be required to go to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
