DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
