DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol treatment programs are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while under the influence in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
