Criminal justice clients are those who are in any sort of drug and alcohol treatment program as a result of a drug or alcohol related offense. This will occur for example if someone else is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, or any other type of drug related criminal offense that has led the court to think that the individual has any sort of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everybody has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol treatment center as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered through the judge it's wise that the individual do everything they're able to to make the most of this chance. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eradicated or lessened when the individual does well in rehabilitation and finishes the drug and alcohol rehabilitation center that is ordered for them. New offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that take part in rehab in place of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to incarceration or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
