DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
