DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
