DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be required to go to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
