Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of drug and alcohol treatment facility due to alcohol or drug related offense. This will happen for example when someone is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, or any other type of drug related offense that has led the judge to think the individual has any sort of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everybody has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol rehab program as a criminal justice client, but when this approach is ordered through the court it's strongly advised that the individual do everything they can to benefit from this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eradicated or lessened when the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and completes the drug treatment facility that is ordered for them. First-time offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients who take part in rehab instead of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. Ultimately, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive powerful rehab.
