DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence later on.
