DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse.
