DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be required to go to rehab either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system.
