DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug treatment programs are generally there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
