DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
