DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while drunk or high later on.
