Criminal justice clients are people who are in any kind of alcohol and drug rehabilitation program as a result of a drug or alcohol related crime. This can occur for example if someone is convicted of drunk driving or DWI, or any other kind of drug related criminal offense which has led the judge to believe the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol treatment center as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered by the judge it's wise that the individual try everything they can to take full advantage of this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences may be completely eradicated or lessened in the event the individual does well in rehabilitation and completes the drug and alcohol treatment center which was ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that do take part in rehab instead of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to jail time or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehabilitation.
