DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but usually in drug rehab due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
