DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehab programs are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
