DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be ordered to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
