DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug rehabilitation centers are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
