DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while drunk or high down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
