DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while intoxicated down the road.
