DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
