DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
