DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while under the influence in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
