DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug treatment facilities are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
