DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could possibly be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that those who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
