DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be ordered to rehab either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
