DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehab programs are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while under the influence down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
