DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while under the influence later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
