DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could possibly be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
