Criminal justice clients are people who are in any sort of alcohol and drug rehab center because of alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This can occur for example when someone is convicted of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related criminal offense that has led the judge to believe that the individual has any kind of drug or alcohol use issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered by the court it is well advised that the individual do everything they can to get the most from this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eliminated or lessened in the event the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and finishes the alcohol and drug treatment facility which was ordered for them. First-time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that do experience treatment in lieu of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to jail time or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
